Last night on Turner Classic Movie Channel I watched an old, black and white, Silent Movie, named The Jazz Singer. The story revolved around an early Jewish immigrant family in New York. The aging father was the sixth generation Kantor (synagogue leader in prayers & songs). His life’s dream was to see his only son Jack became the next Kantor. What do have they in common? The first two may need some explanation, but definitely not the third. Who is Jethro? No, Hockey fans, not Clark Gillies, captain of New York Islanders around 1970-1977.
