What’s the Big Idea?

George BerkeleyAllow me to indulge or at least dabble a bit in philosophy. Dr.Anthony D’Souza, my Professor at the University of Toronto, taught about the Irish Philosopher, Bishop George Berkeley, 1685-1753:

  • Berkeley wrote on the concept “Idea is an object”. Sounds crazy eh?
  • Plato had already spoken on the “theory of forms”; the seen is the changing and the unseen is the unchanging”
  • St.Paul, the Apostle and a Greek scholar himself, who must have read Plato,  wrote “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen for the things that are seen are temporary but the things unseen are eternal. 2 Cor.4:18.  Again, “now we see through a glass darkly, but then face to face” (1 Cor. 13:12)
