Don’t be Hard on Gehazi

jesus heals the leperI still am not ready to leave the old bible story about the healing of Naaman.  The story of Elisha’s servant Gehazi came out strong in my mind while writing my recent post “Two Cart loads of Dirt”.  My high point was the healing of Naaman, both spiritual and physical. Unlike the New Testament healing of the 10 lepers in Luke 17:11-19 , where only one out of ten lepers returned to thank Jesus, Naaman the pagan was determined to express his gratitude to Elisha, with precious gifts. “Two Cart Loads of Dirt”

I have found some of the Old Testament Bible stories very real and interesting.  Recently, I read again the story about Naaman in 2 Kings 5. If you recall, Naaman was an Army Commander who was stricken with leprosy. God used a simple maid servant to persuade this  great Commander to go seek Elisha and ask for healing. Not only was Naaman healed but his heart was changed as well. What peaked my interest in this famous story this time was in verse 17…”two mules burden of earth”. Continue reading
